GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) – Some Gulfport dad and mom tonight left pissed off and scrambling after a final second change for college buses.
The Harrison County Faculty District has discontinued transportation for some college students to the Forest Heights Boys & Ladies Membership.
The district stated it’s due to overcrowding.
Mother and father stated they place their kids within the security of the Boys & Ladies Membership, and now they’re having to make alternate plans after college.
“It isn’t the accountability per se for the varsity to supply transportation to the Boys & Ladies Membership. It’s their accountability to get children dwelling,” stated mother or father Terrance Blackwell. “However if you’re utilizing this service as your main technique of transportation and one thing falls by prefer it did right now, then what do you do from this level?”
The Boys & Ladies Membership says transportation was suspended from North Gulfport Elementary because of a coverage put in place by the district’s transportation director.
The varsity district advised WLOX “the bus that has been aiding with transporation of scholars is stuffed to capability with college students who have to be transported to their properties. Subsequently, the bus can not be used to move kids to the Boys & Ladies Membership.”
Mother and father say the district is working to resolve the difficulty.
